Even in a state of total emotional flatness, I am still able to visualise the golden slopes of 1080 Snowboarding during the day, and feel the joy of playing it at night.

Luigi's Mansion 3 looks neat. Can anyone confirm if I'll miss some vital Luigi character development if I skip 2 and just play 3?

Luigi gets a ghost dog in the second game known as te Polterpup. He's in the third game. That's kind of it. Luigi is scared, there are ghosts, E. Gadd wants you to catch them.

And also don't be afraid of missing out on music. The Luigi's Mansion theme is just repeated all over the place.

I was gonna say, you gotta give it at least twenty minutes of actual gameplay

I think I'm interested in it just for the bizarre spectacle of it. I don't know anything about the gameplay yet other than that you drink Monster energy and then stumble around like a buffoon. Looks neat.

You drink monster energy and hike. That's basically it. It's great!

Just a little note: when I played MGS1 and 2 for the first time, I ran them back-to-back.
(it wasn't the first time I'd gotten to play either game in general, but it was my first full-length, entire-game playthrough all on my own for both. My own copies of the game, solo play, my own immersion.) I loved the shit out of them both pretty similarly to how you described. (I will say that I like 1 more though, despite 2's obvious technical and gameplay improvements.) But then I tried to jump into 3 right after, and it just felt too jarringly different, I wasn't getting into it, and I didn't play very far at all and had to stop. A few years later I came back to 3 (at what was incidentally a very ripe and personally resonant time for me), and it just hit incredibly. That one is still my favorite MGS game ever since, even though I never expected it to happen. So just a word of warning if you're approaching 3 fresh after the first two, to keep this in mind. You might need to put some space in between. Last edited by pastiche; 20th November 2019 at 08:59 PM. |

I played the first MGS for the first time about a year ago but god I ****ing loved it. I think Ala put it best with it blending simplicity and complexity so well, like the level of interactivity in the game is probably my favorite aspect of it. I still need to get my hands on one of the collections so I can play 2 and 3, but man now I also want to replay the first game.

MGS3 takes a bit to get used to. It's a very different game than the others and plays more like a cross between MGS's arcade action stealth and Splinter Cell's slower tactical stealth. I like the faster pacing of MGS1 and 2 a bit more, but I still like MGS3's gameplay a lot. Once you master it you can still play it just as fast and loose as 1 and 2, but with a lot more fun toys to play with.

Audica is not nearly as fun as Beat Saber imo

I've just been sitting here waiting for a day off from work so I can try out the Valve Index I bought. I want to go inside the video games.

I got my first chance to use my Valve Index today. I need to mount one of my base stations on a wall somewhere higher up in order to reach the floor when playing Hotdogs Horseshoes and Handgrenades, but it works pretty great. Having to actually grab an object in game with my hands as opposed to pressing a button takes some getting used to. I also learned today that I can't aim for shit.
Now to install that Super Mario 64 VR mod so I can throw up all over my $1,000 headset.
