Unconventional Ways You've Done Things In Games
From beating that one boss, to completing that one puzzle, discuss strange and unique ways you've accomplished things in games.
Rather than planting a magic bean in the soil on Death Mountain and flying to the top of Dodongo's Cavern, I'd always backflip over the short part of the fence and land on the slope, getting the Piece of Heart that way instead as a child. Also, I don't think I've ever successfully beaten Bongo Bongo using the Hover Boots. I'd always run to the little skulls surrounding the arena and stand and shoot from there. It was then a matter of letting him get close enough so that I could hit him when he was stunned without him mowing me over in the process.

I didn't raise the water level to get onto the platform in Clanker's Cavern. If you wait until the water rises just a tiny bit on it's own and time the jump, you can get onto the platform without having to swim into the key.

When I play a game I always manage to do stuff the unconventional way.

In Oblivion there was this huge maze that you're supposed to traverse and I kept getting lost, so I hopped up onto the top of one of the stones and just jumped my way through it.
Whenever I do things unconventional in a video game it's either because I A) Try to do it the right way but keep failing so try it a different way, or B) Do it the unconventional way thinking it's the right way to do it....^^

A lot of the jiggies in BT where you had to get in a specific way (like springy boots at the GGM waterfall, or the jumping pillars in MT) I got with clockwork eggs

Beat Lord Woo without oxygenating the water, turning sub. or I think seeing the goldfish. It wasn't easy too. Using Talon Torpedo pauses the drowning counter. I beat the rest Atlantis without oxygenating the water.

How would you even be able to get torpedo without the spell?

By using warp pads to go back to the surface and replenish oxygen. You're barely able to swim to the Seaweed Sanctum. Then swim back outside and get the warp pad and new move. Try it! T'was more interesting but not a huge challenge. Lord Woo I died at many times though.

Whenever there are friendly but expendable a.i. on your team in a sp campaign, such as in the Halo games, I always do my utmost to keep them alive and with me as far as they can travel. Sometimes I restart is too many die.

In Portal 2's Co-op I skipped an entire test chamber by taking the cube from the last room by shooting a portal through a hole in the wall.

Using boxes and the trolley in Nuts and Bolts, it's possible to activate all the warp pads and gather a considerable number of parts before even entering the first act of the first world.

In NaB, it is possible to beat the game without ever getting any trolly upgrades.. EG, by not beating grunty in the high grip wheel challange in nutty acres. I did that

Got to Chilly Willy with just Banjo. ..Or was it just Kazooie? Or both? Just Banjo I think. Whoever it was, you can get up there by going to the area outside the ice between you and the Stomping Plains jiggy, and using the slope above it to jump up.
You can go through Mumbo's Mountain without the termite. Jumping prowess allows you to get to the top of Ticker's Tower and above the Mumbo's Mountain entrance for the Witch-Switch jiggy. For that I hug the left wall while talon trotting up at a certain angle and jumping, and it sort of glitches you forward. I can think of several other little things for B-K/T but they are little. |

Grabbing that first cheato page in GGM by jumping from the rope, as opposed to using the springy shoes--I'm sure a lot of you have done this. It's very easy
Also, the area of old aperture when you are first introduced the conversion gel, I think I do that wrong |

A recent example, in Xenoblade, I had to get to a bridge to trigger the next cutscene. I take a convoluted route around, running past at least 15 enemies that were 60+ levels higher than me, and reach the bridge from the opposite side that I'm supposed to. Naturally, this messes up the cutscene since it shows the party running up from the other direction.
