Which one is JonTron again? There's, like, several Jons I know of. Kinda funny they're all that spelling.

I just had a Banjo thought while listening to this cover, and since this is a Banjo forum...
...and this is just speaking personally, but aside from like... Portal 2... I still can't believe there was a sequel to anything that was actually better. I know lots of other examples exist but Banjo-Tooie always felt different. I love a game that is completely aware of itself. |

Weirdly enough Goldie, I just came across a 6 year old Banjo-Tooie review literally earlier today that I'd somehow never seen before, that echoes the same sentiment. (Although they disagree with you about good sequels within the very first minute, lol)
It's a good watch! |

That was awesome. I'd probably still consider Banjo-Tooie to be my favorite game of all time.

Friendly reminder that that one theory originated from this very forum:https://www.therwp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51595

I saw a video talking about Banjo-Tooie and how as a game you collect a lot more than the first game. It reminded me that Banjo-Tooie is my favorite 7/10 of all time.
Then it got to the teaser video for Nuts and Bolts where Banjo runs into the wall of spiral mountain and boy, it brought back some memories. I remember being here when it happened and all of us speculating about what Banjo-Threeie was gonna' be like. I remember them unveiling that it was a vehicle game and all of us breaking down. (It WAS a good game though just genuinely surprising.) A lot of us were distraught that this was the last visage of the duo we'd ever see again. Then they came to Smash Bros. and it was the duo like we remember them! I think it's really nice that we get to end things on that note. Whether we see the bird and bear again at least they got one last bit of respect from Sakurai. I think it would be cool to see them again, especially in such tough times, but I am happy that at least through all that they are fondly remembered as 3 core games and a respectable cameo. 1) They NAILED platforming. I LOVE Super Mario 64 and the fact Banjo-Kazooie rivals it is INSANE if you think about it. 2) They tried super hard with Tooie and gave us so much it borders on TOO much. What a great problem to have! 3) Making even more of the same seemed tough so they decided to pivot into an entirely different genre. Maybe it should have been a different IP (up to the individual) but at least they tried something different and STILL made a good game. A company with the potential of Nintendo getting the treatment of Atari is absolutely baffling, yet the fact that they were ever even able to shine at all is a wonder and I'm glad we all got to see it.
