Do you guys remember that "Mario 64 iceberg" that was all the rage a while back? And how it made iceberg charts super popular, especially on YouTube? Well, I was checking out some Banjo-Kazooie icebergs and, frankly, I wasn't pleased with their quality. They have a few deep cuts here and there, but mostly it's the same familiar Stop & Swop stuff. Nothing like the Mario 64 iceberg, which was clearly made by someone who knows the game forwards and back.
That's why I made my own. (<== Click!) Most of the stuff in my iceberg come from my own exploration of the games, but some of it I learned right here on the Rwop. I only have the vaguest notion of what is and isn't obscure, but with 150 entries, I'm sure almost everyone who reads the iceberg will learn something new about the games. Hover over each entry for a detailed explanation. Click on them for a link to their source, if available. You can only add one link per entry, so some of them (like the Coolboyman/Jetpac Refuelled hoax) require minor independent research. (If this is unworthy of its own thread, mods feel free to move it to the Banjo Thought Thread, please and thank you.) ![]()

Good sir, I shall inquire about
I always thought the Quagmire train tracks were so mysterious as a kid but in hindsight it's clearly just to show how the train gets into Grunty Industries

This is great work!
Now we need someone to make a 4 hour youtube video explaining every single one of these in meticulous detail. I'd watch it in one sitting.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

The "Waterfall Jiggy" is a Mandela effect. A lot of people remember either grabbing a Jiggy in a little alcove behind a waterfall in Banjo-Kazooie or seeing a clip of the Jiggy in an early ad for the game. Obviously, there's no such Jiggy in the game and the alleged clip has never been found. The Turtle View Mystery Ledge is a strange grassy ledge jutting out of the rock wall in the area where you meet Tiptup in Banjo-Tooie. It's past the invisible wall at the far end of the area, so it's pretty hard to see. The easiest way is probably to do a leg spring as solo Kazooie and then glide over the water, into the left side of the wall. The ledge will be on the right side and if you got enough height you'll be able to see it. It's pretty long and looks important, but it's inaccessible without hacking. If you talk to Salty Joe as solo Banjo, he'll offer to become your new partner and even tell you about his special moves, including the Salt Shaker Slap, Greasy Hand Grab and "spitting fries really far." Banjo is not impressed. You can get extra honeycombs from Cursed Beehives in Banjo-Tooie if you kill them in specific ways. If you shoot them with an ice egg and then hit them with Dragon Kazooie's fire breath, you'll get four honeycombs instead of the usual two. If you kill them with any attack a few frames before they run into you, you'll get six honeycombs. The Tower of Tragedy Quiz includes several character sprites that don't appear anywhere else in the game, including a beehive and a note (which do talk in Banjo-Kazooie but not in Banjo-Tooie). There's also the Devil Bottles sprite, but that one's not such a mystery anymore. Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise has statues of Banjo and Kazooie (the "Bear and Bird Statue") and Captain Blackeye (the "Pirate Statue"). That makes it the only Nintendo DS game to acknowledge Banjo and Kazooie. In the N64 version of Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo's house shakes and the curtains billow when Grunty and Tooty fight in the opening cutscene. These effects are totally missing from the Xbox port. The grunting noises in Mayahem Temple's theme music are actually clips of Grant Kirkhope saying "Come and have a go, if you think you're hard enough," which is a soccer football cheer in the UK. Mumbo's voice consists of the same clips played in a random order. This is acknowledged in Yooka-Laylee, where Trev quotes the line verbatim. In Banjo-Tooie, you can permanently miss two tracks in Jolly's jukebox, "Sad Jinjo Houses" and "Zombified Throne Room," if you never enter an empty Jinjo house or King Jingaling's throne room while he's zombified. There's one more missable track in the game, "Party at Bottles," which plays if you try to get into Bottles' house after reviving Bottles and Jingaling but before beating the final boss, but that one will automatically appear in the jukebox even if you missed it. In Banjo-Kazooie, you can kill certain enemies in particular ways to get two honeycombs instead of the usual one. For example, killing a Snippet without flipping it over (using Beak Buster or Wonderwing) and killing a Buzzbomb with Crocodile Banjo's bite attack. Scrimblo Bimblo is a meme created by Twitter user @NemmyArty to make fun of cartoony platformer mascots like Banjo and Crash Bandicoot. This nickname went viral among Smash Bros fans, especially fans of anime-style JRPG characters. There's a ledge in Grunty's Lair, in the room with the Shrapnel mine right before the Rusty Bucket Bay lobby, that can't be reached without hacking. You can get pretty close to it by going through a red tunnel filled with eggs in the Click Clock Wood lobby. It'll put you on a small ledge with a Mumbo Token and the mystery ledge to your right. It's pretty conspicuous, but unfortunately it isn't possible to jump from that ledge to the mystery ledge.

I could put it on Reddit for you, but I would prefer if you got full credit by putting it on Reddit yourself. I don't want to be credited for your hard work.
