The only Banjo thought I want to share is that Banjo, Kazooie, Grunty and Mumbo are fantastic video game characters. They were pretty much instantly timeless. And it's such a shame that Microsoft never knew how to take advantage of the IP. They absolutely had the potential to be a good Mario competitor.

While we have a Banjo convo goin', I just discovered this new video from this week that has [extremely brief] beta footage of RBB and BGS at the end I've never ever seen before. I've literally never seen ANY beta content of either of these levels my whole life, besides that old Grimlet design you see floating around online. And I thought I'd seen it all.
So BGS was originally more foreboding in atmosphere, apparently. Tanktup doesn't appear to be in some new area, rather it seems there are just extra islands to his front left and front right that don't exist in the final, for....some purpose. I checked the map and in the final, both are replaced by feather piles in the swamp water. Shit's wild brah.

My old theory was that the Mayans built the stone structures on Hailfire Peaks, seeing as it and Mayahem Temple are directly connected. Then when the dragon came it caused the volcano to erupt, driving the Mayans away to their new home. It's hard to believe anyone built such structures WHILE there was lava everywhere after all, and there's evidence on the Ice Side as well that it was once lush, and was not always frozen over. I feel like the presence of the dragons is what causes the extreme temperatures in the first place
But I realized today I was way overthinking it. The stone stuff is supposed to be Roman as a reference to Vesuvius/Pompeii. That's why it has a colosseum and "HIIO" instead of H2O in the water pool. The old design made the Vesuvius thing more obvious, with more stone buildings and a lava aquaduct.....lavaduct. Last edited by qwertykins76; 29th December 2022 at 08:49 PM. |

Clanker's Cavern is vastly underrated and not properly credited for its coolness. It has a few things holding it back but the ONLY thing stopping it from being my favorite BK level of all time is that it just doesn't expand or elaborate enough on the parts I'm most fond of. If they did a wee bit more with it I'd gush all over it.

I just don't like the pacing, also I think it should of been a bit later in the game.

I have the attention span of a fly, so I literally don't remember if we've talked about it on RWP, but Banjo-Kazooie randomizer is a thing and the 2.0 version is frankly a joy to play.
If you're one of those diehard Banjo fans that still plays the games every year, the rando is absolutely worthy of your time. |

I don't wanna read too much into things, but Grant Kirkhope was just asked if thinks we will ever see the bear and bird again, and he said "I doubt it".
Does this raise flags for anyone else?? This is NOT what he usually says. What he usually says is "I hope so" or "surely they've gotta do it one of these days, everyone wants it". But now, all of a sudden, he's saying it will probably never happen? I'm sorry, but I cannot help but read that as him being coy. He did EXACTLY the same thing before Banjo's Smash reveal and went on to say it was extremely difficult for him to keep the secret. I dunno man, him saying "I doubt it" is something he has literally NEVER said before. He has never adopted this attitude. It literally has to be him just being coy, I'm not insane for thinking this right Also Gregg Mayles has been dead silent on social media for quite a long time, and knowing him as a mega-introvert I can total buy he would deliberately withdraw and disappear off the face of the earth in the event he was working on a secret huge project. Ed Bryan has also been sharing more Banjo posts than usual lately. |
