When I was a kid Terrydactyl Land was extremely mysterious to me especially when the cavemen are revealed. I think because you go there near the sleeping one in the Myan Temple and I was just like WHAT IS THIS PLACE?!
Yeah I gotta give it to Witchyworld for best Isle of Hags.

I agree it had very mysterious vibes to it for some reason
Here's a picture of Terrydactyland if it actually had good level design ![]() |

Fawful's recent Banjo levels ranking video where he put Clanker's and RBB dead last saddened me a bit. Of all people on this Earth, I would have expected HIM to go against the grain. I figured he would at least somewhat appreciate the cool metallic aesthetic of levels like that.
I recently redid my own ranking and CC is actually rather high up on my list. I have slowly grown increasingly fond of it over time, and if that place went all-out and more strongly emphasized the parts I like about it it could easily have been my favorite overall period. My current top 5 are Jolly's, CCW, Grunty Industries, MMM and CC. MMM fell off cuz in hindsight it heavily over-relies on its excellent aesthetic, whereas I feel the physical level design is a little meh. The exact same thing is true of CCW but I'm a little biased there. |

Watched this the other day; enjoyed it
Other than the commonly-cited issues with Terrydactyland's size and the amount of "empty space", one of my personal biggest gripes was that the level was visually boring because of it--large stretches of muddy-brown eyesore textures with not a lot around to break up the monotony. Not only would a redesign like this improve the scale, but it'd also feel better to inhabit. |

I have a lot of nostalgia for the seemingly endlessness of a lot of Tooie levels that seemed to always have more secrets to peel back, especially with interconnected levels. TDL is no exception, but yeah in hindsight that level is just a big dirthole in the ground with a lot of backtracking. (BK, just B, just T, Big dino, Little Dino, Mumbo - it approaches DK64 levels of backtracking lol)

I can (and quite literally have before) sit down and list at least 3 dozen design flaws within Terrydactyland. I don't subjectively dislike playing it, but good golly gracious it is a shining example of how NOT to design a level.
![]() At the very top of the list for me? The T-Rex transformation being spoiled for you ahead of time by the doors/button, and the UNDERWATER portions of Tdl using the light beige cracked earth texture that is supposed to indicate DRY SOIL. |

Is anyone upset that Grunty's Revenge isn't in Rare Replay do you think

Revenge is extremely, super important if you're the sort of person who cares about Banjo lore. And if you're NOT that person, then you're not my friend

If you don't accept that Banjo and Kazooie are married and that Kazooie is Banjo's Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Stand then we're not friends

I love Terrydactyland. It's one of the highlights of the franchise for me, alongside Click Clock Wood and Grunty Industries. The styracosaurus family quest is my favorite in the game. There is a Marie Kondo-esque joy in gradually cleaning up a giant mess.
Also, am I nuts or did Dragon Kazooie give you infinite red feathers on N64? I could've sworn it gave you infinite red feathers and fire eggs, but I recently played it on Xbox and it only gave me the eggs.

I don't think you're nuts as I totally misremember things about old games I played all the time (I totally forgot Chuffy was the "correct" way to get inside Grundy's Industries) but yeah it definitely only gave you infinite fire eggs I'm pretty sure.
