So I have been obsessed with the new Mario Party. But what caught me off guard was one mini-game, Beach Volley Folley. I played volleyball at a collegiate and international level for years, and I reckon if I had found this game earlier I would have had a much better understanding of the game and how to play. Like this mini-game is one of the best sports games I have ever played. They even manage to get little quirks in there such as how your body is positioned affects what angles and power is available to you, and if you don't line up the block just right it will glance off at an odd angle.

I grinded out to the top rank with a 77% win rate. Felt kinda bad tho since nobody that I played against was using the same techniques that I was. Also it is amazing fun playing as a 4 player local game. Only complaint was that due to my experience playing volley, I would communicate every touch/play that was happening in a very calm/zen voice, which is not usual for me. My partner did not enjoy my volleyball voice however hahha. I can see how it would sound patronizing tho.

after getting a chunky pb because of obvious routing things i should have noticed years ago, i took a break from the speedrun to design houses again by picking up a house i started back in april.

been playing senran kagura instead. it is a compelling story about the societal biases inherent in the concept of good and evil, observing how often people viewed as being bad are simply those falling outside of the binary standards that good bases itself around, and given the chance to express themselves are equally as human as those given more chances than they were... and the titteis are HUGE

I have been meaning to get around to Baba is you. Mostly due to my longstanding dream of becoming a baba and cooking all the amazing Ukranian food.

I fell back into Animal Crossing after the big update, so I've been on that for a couple weeks. Hours and hours re-terraforming my island because I had a better idea for the Isle of Ghoulstone. Being able to demolish only one bridge or staircase a day is really frustrating.

Otherwise I fell back into Team Sonic Racing now that I have a computer that can play it nicely. Soundtrack's a bop.

Oh yeah, Mario Party Superstars is legit. I love what they did with Horror Land and Woody Woods. Even Peach's Birthday Cake is totally playable now. And they brought back my favorite minigame (Storm Chasers)! My only problem is the roster. It kinda sucks that there's only ten characters after Super Mario Party had like a million. I miss Diddy!

Anyway, I tried playing Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows but I just can't get the hang of Plague Knight's moves. I died five times in the tutorial and gave up. I might try it again later since everyone says it's the best campaign. For now I'm happy enough to replay Shovel of Hope and maybe pick up the last few achievements.
