Leave it to Nintendo to make a nonviolent shooter starring a preteen girl (who is sometimes also a squid). This is officially the first game of its kind I've ever had any interest in whatsoever, as it looks hella fun. It also looks like it'll be easy to market in Japan, as they don't generally like shooters or American game culture in general.

Honestly I thought it was the best thing shown at E3. I'm hoping it doesn't end up like Shootmania.

At first I was disappointed it wasn't a regular fast paced arena shooter since I've been itching for one, but after watching the stream I'd say it looks pretty fun.

I hope they allow for 1) in-game mic chat and 2) custom levels.

I think making your own levels would be amazing for this type of game

Same for me, game of the show no DOUBT. Nintendo finally unveils a major, internally developed new IP and it looks spectacular and hype-generating! They should try that more often than once every 13 or so years, ha.

But yeah, I think it looks like a blast. Absolutely bizarre concept, weird/cool characters (tentacle pigtails?!), colorful, mostly nonviolent, and looks really really deep. Looks like a future multiplayer classic, could be the Wii U's defining game!

Splatoon could sell Wii Us. I mean, I was already going to get one, but now I'm really going to get one.

I hope the main character has a name. Like, an actual given name. I'm tired of generic monikers like Mii, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer. They feel so soulless and lazy. Given that the blue team and red team orange team have identical team members, though, I doubt it.

The first two are avatars. They're supposed to be generic. As for Wii Fit Trainer, with ya there. I want to get my fitness training from a Carol or a Marcel or a Janice or a Kevin.
