If I were to guess, the reason for the crazy number of babies and koopa kids is that it's pretty easy to just reskin those additional characters. I think they probably were rushing to get Mario Kart 8 out the door because of the abysmal Wii U sales and threw in these characters. Hopefully Nintendo will put out DLC, and I would gladly pay for it. I love almost all the tracks, though I definitely agree that water sections are bullshit.

I have similar issues; can't even tell you the names of half the tracks in that game. Only very few actually stood out to me; only one of which were used for retro tracks in MK8 (The pipeway).

Am I the only one who digs every gameplay aspect? I love the use of underwater, zero-g, and gliding.

Obviously I haven't played MK8 yet but if what you're on about extends to MK7 I can say yes. If not then at least I can say I'm looking forward to seeing how they're used.

As for MK7's tracks, I kinda liked most of them myself. Last two in the Mushroom cup I can't say I care for, but the rest I like enough to have enjoyed the idea of seeing them in 8.
Alpine Pass especially, really wanted that one in.

Got the game. Battle mode is disappointing as I thought, but Sherbert Land does have a sort of "arena" esque area that is actually good for battling.

The graphics are so gorgeous, and I the MKTV replays can make everything seem so dramatic in slow motion. If they can figure out a way to upload your previous course footage and allow you to continue playing without waiting for it to upload (takes forever), I would pretty much upload every single race.

So who's down for some racing/battle mode?
