The ice wall in DK64 is most likely not related to S'N'S and therefore is irrelevant. The ice wall shown in that video was only used as an example of what the room that housed the Ice Key may have looked like if it ever existed.

Edit: So apparently this is whats happening to me I start a fresh game and start watching the Ice Key address, when I press start this seems to happen. ASM <-- Set (807FC839) Ice Key address to 1 (On Select file) ASM <-- Set (807FC839) Ice Key address to 1 (On open menu) I started a fresh clean state on the rom, what am I doing wrong? It works but I don't need the Icekey quantity code, it doesn't sound right. Last edited by mikesgm6; 11th August 2008 at 01:17 AM. |

Wow this is probably the biggest thing found for such a long time.
it seems likely the texture might still be in the game especially since it's in the menu. it's function is probably scrapped though. I'm surprised this hasn't been found yet. but then again everyone was busy hacking tooie and kazooie

Hey Mike,
First of all, welcome back buddy . Now, I've explained this bit before but you weren't here to hear it. Basically, that value only represents how many Ice-keys you have. Now, since you will never see this value until the ice-key is shown in the menu, it will always be set to 1. Except for the first time you boot a fresh ROM. The important thing to note is that this does NOT activate the ice-key in the menu. For that, you need to use one of these codes to mod the menu item. Keep in mind that we haven't actually found the value that fully activates the ice-key in the menu. Quote:

Man I haven't been here in over a year. Too long.....
Anyway. Great find. I'm no hacker, but I still have an idea. Assuming your search for the ice-key image code fails, would it be possible to take the image code from BK and insert it into the data for DK64? Also I wonder if this means there may be other SnS clues in DK64.

That would be cheating lol. That's just replacing one image with another. It wouldn't be of any value to figuring out what the ice key did/does in DK64.

Yeah, I meant the 3-D image.
Well, I thought maybe that could bring the image in there, which could activate something in the game like the ice door there. Meh, that probably wouldn't work now that I think about it. I'm just putting out ideas when they sound good at the time.

Hey runehero, could you please update your first post with any new information about the ice key? I hate having to troll though posts just to find extra information.
