I'm pretty sure that Rare said MFE became the FIRE side of hail-fire peaks.

CCW was made late in development at the point where FF and MFE, if programmed, were already removed. The ideas were already scrapped at that point, but Rare went along with adding CCW. That's why the CCW portrait is so out of place and happens to be in an area with a lot of fungus (FF).

Now, as for Gobi saying he's going to the lava world; that's because Rare was making an inside joke that you'd never find him because the place no longer existed. I guess it meant for gamers to scratch their heads looking for him.

And does anyone else find it ironic that assuming MFE WAS programmed, that the lava room in the lair contains a Gobi's Valley portrait in its place?

I just think the whole Gobi thing was an inside joke.

It was on these very forums that, I forgot who, went into the area with the ccw portrait, hovered around and heard just a second of advent music. I think FF was supposed to be one of the first levels of the game. Maybe....oh I don't know... Clanker's Cavern. The video on youtube did show clanker all fleshy. It would make sense.

The problem with that is that the Advent music wasnt meant to be the music for FF, it's just assumed to be so.

But yea, many do assume that Clanker's Cavern was, at some point, FF do to early beta screenings showing an organic clanker alongside fungus-covered walls. Perhaps FF was meant to be the third game world, perhaps MFE was meant to be the last, due to Gobi running off to it in the final level. We can't be sure and chances are we wont ever be.

and as for your comment Chaos447, you raise a very good argument, it could very well have been a joke fom Rare, seeing how they like to poke fun in these types of matters, Mentioning a Lava world in a game where it had already been removed. Kind of reminds me of the Wierd West world in B-K:N&B, which the penguins along the shore mention from time to time

I love Rare so much because they are so good at keeping things a secret. I wonder if one day, a Rare employee will come out and say. "Fungus Forest was located in ________, MFE was supposed to be in _________. AND THE ANSWER TO STOP AND SWOP IS___ __ _____ __ __ __ __."

With Rare being who they are, it could very well be. the Marketplace updates every Wednesday, it just happens to be that April 1st is a Wednesday. I hope its not but, the odds are that we'll be fooled again. Let's just hope they atleast include the Devil Bottles mode this time
