legitimately prefer return of samus. I think it manages a better atmosphere despite being on the gameboy. Also needing to parry bosses to damage them is annoying.

yeah samus returns had a cool ending but otherwise i found the game overly long and monotonous, the level design sucks and the boss design is worse. i'm actually shocked they pulled out something as good as ridley at the end cause he's leagues above the rest of the game's bosses, in a game so obsessed with boss designs that repeat the same endless loop of dodging a boss' attacks until the few moments where they'll let you deal damage ridley's just an all-out panicked slugfest where you're blasting him as hard as possible and it's so much more fun

I finally caved into my constant desire to start playing a new Metroidvania and went with Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. It does a lot of things right for me, I am enjoying the feel and the mechanics. The campiness of the story so far has hit well for me too. I feel a bit meh that the feminine protagonist is in a super sexy outfit while most of the other masculine characters are completely covered in clothes, but I also enjoy playing as a dope action heroine so kinda have to let it slide. The graphics on switch are pretty trash tho, but they manage to capture the vibe of Symphony of the Night well with how the backgrounds animate and give more oomph to the foregrounds.
Definitely flawed but not flawed enough for me to stop playing. Tho I also impulse bought SotN on PS4 so maybe that'll grab my attention soon enough lmao

I enjoyed it. scratched that igavania itch for me. And it's really fun to break.
Also I'm pretty sure Miriam was designed by a woman.

so atlus dropped a wild announcement today.
For context, in 1995 they released Smt: Devil Summoner. That game got a sequel in 1997 called SMT: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers. So they're making a sequel to a sequel to a spin-off, and making it into its own mainline series like they did with Persona. It looks like you won't be summoning demons directly into your party. Demons seem to be used to alter a special group attack. Attacking an enemy's weakness increases this counter on the top-right call "Stack." I'm thinking stack determines how many demons you send out for a special attack.

There were some rumors about this. Always glad for more Atlus. I'll give it a shot. It's even coming to Xbox, wild.

Everything but switch lol. Which is fine considering smtv runs at 10fps sometimes.
also real glad this game is as stylized as it is. Even the mainline smt series isn't a stranger to cell shading, which begs the question of why SMTV looks as drab as it does. The demons were designed for Persona 5, textured in a way that looks nice in P5's artstyle. The demon's are still textured the way they were, but in SMTV there isn't any sort of shader that goes with them. So you have some demons with noticeably comic-booky faces clashing with the relatively more realistic styling of SMTV.

Elden Ring sounds too good to be true. A game that surpasses expectations? Combines every mechanic of every souls, and makes them better than ever? Surely it cannot be this powerful.

I'm about 10 hours in and level 24 or something, exploring the map because Margit or whatever his name is hard. Took me a bit to get accustomed to the controls and understand things but loving it
