Custom Made Jiggy's
Been feeling artsy lately so I decided to make some Jiggy's. This is my first attempt at scuplting anything from foam so please bare with me.
They used to be nice and flat but when the paint dried the surface went slightly rough. I carved the Jiggy's and then gave them 2 coats of white paint (the foam I used was grey so this was necessary as I did an earlier one and it turned out too dark after 6 coats of yellow!) Then 2 coats of yellow and then sprayed with varnish to give them the reflective look. Also yeah I know one of them turned out kinda slanted my daughter bumped the table as I was carving them. Anyway here they are: - Picture 1 - Picture 2 - Picture 3 - Picture 4 - Picture 5 |

Not bad at all. I sculpted and made a mold for some jiggies a month or so ago. I cast a few gold ones, and this crystal one. The only picture I have on this computer is of the crystal one, and electricity is out at home due to the remnants of Ike.

Awesome, that one turned out great! I need to make a better mold. Maybe silicone of something.

It is a brush-on liquid latex mixed with ammonia as an evaporant. You brush on a thin layer over your original Jiggy, the ammonia evaporates, and leaves a very thin latex skin. Repeat the process at least 10 times, or until you feel the mold is "stable," and you will have a pliable mold that will be good for 20-30 casts. |

What material are you casting the replicas in? Most of my stuff is acrylic (aka "Liquid Plastic" or "Polyester Acrylic"), but that gets expensive quick. I'd love to know a cheaper alternative.

Honestly I don't know I'll have to have a look at the art store and see what I can find. The jiggies above I carved from regular foam.. with a knife. that's why they all look "unique"
