Well, you have absolutely no idea how much I disagree with you.

I think the levels in this game are BRILLIANT.

This! Just look at the mine cart or rocketbarrel levels. The factory levels do the most, though.

Bluhhh. Well, good for you. I can't stand them. On the fifth world...and it really makes me want to play the originals instead of it, lol.

Yeah, well expect pretty much no one to agree with you. Most everyone who's played it agrees that the levels are very well made. Every level has new surprises, and all the obstacles are perfectly placed to be challenging without being too unfair. Things happen spontaneously in the levels all the time to change things up in such a smooth fashion. I think it's really impressive.

And I also totally disagree with your comment on how they hid secrets. I think they are very cleverly hidden. If you thought, for instance, that the puzzle piece hidden under DK's house on the first level was obvious, good for you, but that took me a while to find and I was surprised when I found it. There were many more like that as well, and I still haven't found many of the items in the levels that I'm beaten. Either I suck at finding secrets, or the developers are really clever. I personally think it's the latter.

I mean really, would you rather have had them place secret items in places where you would have to take a random leap of faith in the hopes that there's something there? No thank you.

EDIT: Oh crap, you were talking about the bonus levels. Well, I don't mind those one bit either.

They seem just spread around in obvious spots, and there's really not a lot of point into going them - you used to get those special coins, but not anymore.
Bart, this is Captain Nostalgia speaking here, so listen up: the level designs here are exactly as good as those in the original trilogy; in fact, many of them are better, and a few of them are much better. And, I dunno if you've ever actually won any of the (fairly well-hidden; I dunno what you're talking about) bonus stages, but you get a jiggy for beating them. You're not playing them for nothing like you did in the first DKC. Diddy's Kong Quest is still my favorite, but Returns is my second-favorite. Keep giving this game a chance and you'll learn to love it.

The Switcheroo level in the factory world (the red/blue switch level) is so devious. I love it.

For the most part yes, but I dislike having to slam and blow at every single thing in the background to see if a piece will pop out.

Getting golds in most average-difficulty levels isn't THAT hard, but the shiny gold medals can be ****ing impossible at times. I barely managed to get it in Jungle Hijinx!

I had a little trial and was impressed, it's pretty challenging but fun.

I just beat the Tiki Tong and saw the ending. For some reason he was atrociously hard for me to beat. I lost way too many lives. Fun ending, though.

Now to get the puzzle pieces I missed and beat all the K levels (I've already beaten 1-K, 2-K, and 3-K).

Yeah, that world was excellent from beginning to end. I think Factory and Forest were the best worlds in the game.

Agreed. My favorite stage in the entire game is Tippin' Totems. Either that or Slammin' Steel.

I think I like apostrophes.

I think Foggy Fumes was one of the best levels.
