But seriously, though, it's like a mega-BK or a mega-BT. Everything you loved about the platformers, but in even huger levels than BT. But people don't like the collectathon element.

Its a relatively challenging game if your just playing it to beat k rool. If you try to beat it 101% then it gets alot harder to find and get all 201 bananas, banana metals, fairys, battle stages, and blueprints. (have I left anything out...)

compare it's difficulty to other games, like BK, just about any Zelda, or one of the 2-D marios

Well, DK64 is much like B-K. It starts out easy (say, Mumbo's Mountain and Mayahem Temple), and then the difficulty builds by level. All 25 Golden Bananas in a level, except in some of the earlier levels, become challenging to get. There's only seven worlds, but you'll be spending a LOT of time in them. But it's not just hard, it's fun.

An example of an easy Banana would be collecting the Banana by hitting a switch and warping to the beginning of the level, with no time limit. The average Banana usually involves trekking through an area, winning a race, or a bunch of different things in a level. And then the few and far between hard Bananas are very challenging, such as killing lots of enemies in a time limit, hard races, and going inside and killing a mechanical fish.

And, like I said, don't get it if you don't like the collectathon element. All 5 Kongs have 5 Golden Bananas to get EACH in each of the worlds, and they aren't exactly lying out in the open. Not to mention all the other collectables.

Well I think its alot harder to get jiggys in the banjo games than to get bananas in dk64. And I know that there are twice as many banana's in dk than jiggys in bk but It's easier to get the number of banana's you need to beat k rool than it is to get the number of jiggy's it takes to beat grunty. Plus grunty was much harder to beat than k rool, esspecially in bt.

I'd say DK64 and BT are on the same level of difficulty. But Banjo-Kazooie is definetly less challenging than either. I could play through BK in about 3 hours.

WAIT, my memory of being a kid returned! I slightly remember that game, I needed 7 or 14 or something like that bannanas in order to get to what I thought was the final boss! What was that, that guy on that island? I thought it was the final boss and was too afraid to approach.
