Completing the pokedex entries in the third area is going to be a challenging task, since I can't see shit in the water.

Your pastures shouldn't really be filling up - I haven't released a single Pokemon since the start, and I've been completing each Pokedex entry/ catching swarms. Put one Pokemon in each box and you'll expand your pastures at least twice, if not more. I'm also pretty sure you might get items from releasing stuff too, although I haven't tried it yet.

40 hours in now and I think I'm nearing the final main story challenge, so I'm gonna slow down cause I don't wanna finish it so fast, haha.

I picked Cyndaquil, cause it's the one starter I don't think I've ever used.


EDIT: Also, I returned Dayna's satchel - not sure if it's the same one that's here, but that would be neat if it prioritizes friendlist satchels, haha. It was right in the Turtwig area I think.

Ahh, good to know! I imagine higher levels/evolved ones have higher chance to give some, or higher levels of grit. The one thing I looked up after like 10 hours in was if you could max all the stats with grit, since I expected to only be able to do 2 fully like past games.

grind your pokemon into grit dust as you "release them"

I highly recommend releasing dupe pokemon to grind for grit. Putting 10 levels of grit on my Lilligant's speed along with a positive speed nature was a difference of nearly 100 stat points. Grit stats are more than exp levels at this point.

Sorry to necroquote, but you're tripping balls, dude. Kleavor is amazing. It's not as cool as Scizor, but it's definitely my favorite Rock-type and a worthy addition to the Scyther family. Unironically Kleavor for Smash.

Ok, so it turns out shiny are actually really common in this game. I've already seen two. The chance of encountering a shiny is doubled if you have level 10 on that pokemon in the dex. It's doubled yet again if you have all it's research tasks completed. A mass outbreak event is somewhere around a 1 in 200 chance in finding a shiny even if you don't have the dex on that pokemon. This is all before getting the shiny charm, which doubles your chances yet again.
