I installed Dead Rising 3, but due to finals and shit haven't gotten around to playing it just yet. Been playing Animal Crossing Daily, but the bare minimum.

I played Resident Evil 5 for 20 minutes and died and turned the game off and realized that if a game puts me back more than 5 minutes worth of game time after a death it's really enough to make me tired of it for a while.

Timesplitters: Future Perfect was a lot of fun, R110 was the best FPS killer robot buddy and I wish he was in more of the game and didn't die at the end. The ending was extremely abrupt and not really satisfying, but it made up for it with Cortez on a 1960s disco dance floor. I want more video game protagonists like Cortez, Harry Tipper, Captain Ash and R110. The latter three were just a really fun bunch, and Cortez is a great example of taking a fairly generic character concept and making him really awesome. I feel that leaving some of the other sidekicks out of the climax is part of why I found it a bit underwhelming.

100% playthrough of Banjo-Kazooie. I still think the lives system is utterly pointless and does nothing but add tedium to collecting all the notes in every world.

God Hand is a good game about fighting demons dressed up as luchador gorillas.

Rare games had awesome music, and DKC2 is no exception. Those funky beats off of Disco Train in Target Terror, man. And Stickerbrush Symphony is the most calming thing in the world.
EDIT: I have 99 problems with GoldenEye 64, but the gunplay ain't one. Seriously though I keep giving this game shit but it's really the best James Bond game I've ever played, aside from maybe Everything or Nothing which I haven't played in forever. It's all in the shooting, man. Guns have so much impact. Last edited by The Colonel; 13th May 2015 at 06:46 AM. |

The "Souls" series is the progenitor of the notes system in the N64 version of Banjo-Kazooie. I can't go back to it after playing it on my 360. Also because I no longer possess the cartridge.

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie's Double Trouble is a good game, but it's easy to see where the stigma around it comes from. Coming off of Diddy's Kong Quest, it's hard not to feel a bit underwhelmed.

I've beaten four games in the past four days. In order, God Hand, Double Dragon Neon, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Captain Toad.

Just finished Gear of War's campaign. Satisfying gameplay, although it doesn't help that it's been one-upped by many games since. People complain that it started the trend of brown-gray gritty shooters and while that's true I can't really fault it for that. It was new at the time and the actual art of the game is pretty interesting, although curious what with Sera being a planet full of humans speaking in American accents and living in European-style cities. Some more varied locations would've gone a long way to the world-building, since we are given no reason to care about any of the events happening in the story beyond the immediate "everyone will die if you don't complete these mission objectives". An okay game. Don't particularly have high expectations for the next two but I got them for dirt cheap, so...
