After parsing BK's music files for the past week, I am able to determine that BK's and DK64's(mainly thanks to CBM for checking DK64's format
![]() It means you are able to swap the music files between Banjo-Kazooie and DK64 with little to no editing. The only thing you usually need to edit are the instruments (since BK's instruments are different of course.). As an example, I've replaced the Spiral Mountain music file with something we've been waiting to hear for a long time(In BK). Fungi Forest! I thought it would be the best place to start since Fungus Forest was in BK originally. The instruments weren't perfect when I imported the file, but I fixed it up a bit. Sounds pretty decent. However, I'll let you decide. Oh, and of course I've provided a patch file(see attachment) assuming you know how to use one ![]() Also, I made a video for people who don't have time to download and test the patch themselves. Just know that it's not the best quality :/ . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f30YCFugogw I'm also working on parsing the "midi event" data so we can import midi files. Not exactly sure how long that is going to take. Last edited by runehero123; 30th October 2008 at 11:11 PM. |

Interesting how similar it is to Fugus Forest's music in DK64. Not that I'm really surprised, since the two are very closely related, but I for some reason never expected the music to be almost the same.

Like I said, the song was imported from DK64. I'm not sure how underwater tracks work yet, but probably will figure that out soon enough. Anyways, thanks for the comments guys.

im kinda confused on this...is it just that you moved the music file to bk from dk64?? or did the music change when it got to bk? or what did you actually do here?

The thing is, Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong64 use different instruments in their songs. So after importing the fungi forest song into Banjo-Kazooie, all I needed to do was edit the instruments in the song to make it sound similar to how it played in Donkey Kong64. |

Great job on doing that Rune, I kept putting it off but you did it. I'm having trouble however doing it between Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie for some reason, which is weird.
I'm surprised it sounded that good in BK! |

Cool. It really does sound like the DK64 version. But a bit more.... Banjo-ish. Nice find.

It could probably sound alot better if more work was done on editing some of the instruments, but I don't really have the time just now to do that. Some of the tracks (really tiny ones) I think are used for sounds like birds chirping, but I'm not 100% sure. Also, about Banjo-Tooie. It's music files have the same format as Banjo-Kazooie correct? I'll check that out later, but perhaps the note/event data is different in Tooie(I hope not). Would be cool to import Glitter Gulch Mine, Witchy World, and Hailfire Peaks as well. |
