Does RAREware suck?

I think their underrated... severly. Viva Pinata shows that Rare is still going strong, the amazing visuals, sound, and effort they put into it is amazing, and VP manage to slide over 1 million copies (though only because it was shipped with a 360 in foreign states).

Same goes for Kameo, very rich and addictive, if we can get that quality in BK3 I'm sure that people's image for Rare will change.

PDZ might be technically impressive, but it suffered from everything-has-to-be-shiny syndrome that a lot of early gen games had. Plus the art is a little whack.

Rare sucks because they type such fine print in their Xbox 360 games that I can barely read a thing without getting a headache because I'm not in ownership of a High Definition television set, which is pretty worthless to watch TV in since the HD programming lineup is still rubbish.

I can't even read my own gamertag at the top corner of Jetpac Refuelled!

btw, Grabbed by the Ghoulies is my favorite game!

I think after perfect dark 2000 they had a little crisis.

I don't liked the StarFox Adventure and GBTG that much... but with their Xbox 360 Titles they reached my soul again!

can't wait for the upcoming projects. Its good to see that there are still a lot of the old programmers in the Company + new talents with fresh Ideas.

I feel like if Star Fox Adventures was released as Dinosaur Planet it would have gotten better reviews or feedback or whatever. Also, I don't get everyones beef with GBTG (mainly outside this forum) cause that game was SOO much fun and was bursting with that Rareware charm that we love so much from our precious N64 classics. I'll admit that PDZ and Kameo weren't the best for them (although Kameo was awesome fun just a lil too short) but Viva Pinata totally compensates for them. BK3 will be hopefully AMAZING and finally others will have the same view as me and so few other people in this world.

I don't think RAREware suck, i liked Kameo and Perfect dark zero. I am yet to play Viva Piñata, but I'm sure it will be good.

Agree'd. For non-fanboy reasons.

It's clear Nintendo is marketed towards 'everyone' as a console, and that seems to have paid off. the Xbox is marketed to, dare I say it; more 'hardcore' gamers. which has paid off as well. I think VP fits in more with Mario and Kirby than it does with Halo and Gears of War.

Most of those bigmouths, so called hardcore players, only grew up with PS2 and Xbox....so they played the so called 'sequal' gamegeneration. Not entire true but that era is only marked for better grafics and sequels.... GranTurismo, Resident Evil, CoD, and a lot more. Those players do not praise true original games. Most of them have not even played on the N64 era or earlier. But they all have their opinion ready...Say Rare...and you say PDZ, Kameo, Grabbed by the Ghoulies...those players dont even know of the existance of DonkeyKong, Banjo, JFG, DKR, 007.

You dont want to know how many of my 'save goldeneye' topics were deleted by those 17 year old moderators/'hardcore' gamers....only to say,....Rare Sucks..topic closed.

TBQH i think some of Rare's recent games have been a bit sloppy. Kameo was aiite i suppose , GBTG was really really repetitive, I just wanted BK:GR to just finish i got so frustrated with it. Viva Pinata on the other hand was a fantastic game and it was really underrated, i was addicted to it for weeks. Also i think PDZ was aiite was like the 3rd game i played on the 360 and yeah cant complain looked pretty good.

What? Many, many original games and series came out of last generation. Nor has everyone forgotten key infuential titles from the N64/PS1 days.

first u put this question on the wrong website. everyone on these forums has a passion for rare. people now adays say that rare sucks because on the 360 you got the hardcore shooters like gears of war, halo etc. and rareware has only shipped out one shooter which although was good, suffered a little bit on the 360 because the 360 did not sell as well when it came out. there was all this talk about the disks melting and the red rings so people were just waiting for the ps3 and wii(which at the time was called the revolution). aroungd the same time they shipped out kameo and soon enough they brought on viva pinata. people see rare now as a childrens game developer and they are putting these games on a console that lives on shooters and massave amounts goar. this is one of the reasons why banjo threeie will not be a childrens game as announced by rare. rareware doesnt suck at all. they are just with the wrong company
