i almost wish koudelka had been harder. the final boss was so easy that i got the special ending for beating it without using any items, which is non-canon, since you're supposed to die in the third phase

I have no idea how you had such an easy time with it. It's possible I was just really bad and didn't build up the right stats, though. For me, I made it to the final form pretty easily, but then it ended with my party all huddled together using the rest of my healing items and getting out only a few 100's of damage each turn. It probably would have helped if I got the special sword thing, but I didn't know you could fight the optional boss.

i built edward with ridiculously high physical stats and piety, and i built koudelka and james with ridiculously high magical stats and vitality. the trick is that having james and koudelka specialize in any sort of weapons is utterly ****ing pointless, and it might even be pointless to do it with edward. weapons do very little damage by the end compared to magic with high intelligence, and having a high piety and vitality lets your party tank so much damage that they're practically invulnerable

i didn't even bother getting sacnoth, i just gave edward lifedrinker at the end. i felt like fighting the gargoyle to get it would have just been a waste of time for sometime that would have offered me a bigger advantage in a fight i already had no chances of losing, and it turns out i was right

the ****ed up part is that even with all that magic specialization less than half of james and koudelka's available magic had even reached level 2, koudelka only got geyser 3 while fighting the last boss

Oh, okay. I remember having Koudelka shoot and use some magic, with James breaking every pipe I had, and Edward healing. I'd consider playing it through again, but it's such a slow game. Good thing it's, at the very least, short. Anyway, have fun with Shadow Hearts. Those games are some of my favorite JRPGs.

I played through that recently. Fun game. Price is a bit steep, though. I feel like it needs more levels. Or at least challenges that use their own levels.

Also getting a bit tired of "the only way to win is to turn off the game"

i'm excited to play shadow hearts at some point, but i'm not jumping into it right away. i wanna beat some other games first, i'm reaching the end of wild arms and after that i want to finally get around to wild arms vii. if i play shadow hearts any time really soon, it'll probably be to take a breather from ffvii so that i don't burn out on it

speaking of wild arms, i hope wa2 carries itself better through the whole game. wild arms 1 has lots of cool bits, but i feel like it really starts to drag its feet with how boring and ugly the combat is. if wild arms 2 just moves faster and looks just a bit less awful, i think i'll really like it when i get around to it. even if it ends up not being that much better though, i think i'll really really like wild arms 3, everything about that game seems so goddamn cool

Fun fact: A lot of the reason Cloud is remembered as an edgelord is because of his appearance in Kingdom Hearts. Originally, Vincent was supposed to appear, but later they decided to replace him with Cloud without actually rewriting much. Or so says internet hearsay.
