The Orre games both have a middle schooler's charm to them. It scratches the itch had for a more grimy portrayal of Pokémon's universe. A certain teenager part of us never truly dies. Sometimes you just gotta embrace the craving you have for all things gritty and perpetually misunderstood, and feed it. It is a soul-hunger.

Which reminds me. I don't think I've ever mentioned it here, but Absol's become one of my favorite Pokémon over the years. Top 3 perhaps. For lots of reasons, but something about the mixture or shining white/fluffy/benevolent and black/scythe-like/anti-hero makes me smile. It has a pretty serious Deviantart/Final Fantasy vibe but, somehow, it all makes me dig it more and not less. Or maybe I just like it because it's a shunted outcast like me, I dunno.

There's only one Pokémon edgier than Absol, the creature of disaster, and that is Cryogonal, the actual disaster.





I think the Yin-Yang symbolism is a neat touch, and as with anything, I award extra points for the use of fashionable asymmetry.

Just wait till you're level 40, they're like 9k CP and they can two shot certain Pokemon with just their fast moves, . The trick is mostly to either spam fast charge moves with quick energy gain fast moves to make them waste time, or just go with a tank that resists their moves.

Or just use Lucario. Level 41 Lucario and then one more that's super effective and one tank usually gets me the win first try blind.
