Looks fine. Just put something like legos on the bottom of the 360 so it is laying a few inches off the surface. Same for the power brick

Excellent actually, just make sure when you travel with it to keep it horizontal when playing, you shouldnt run into any problems there. The power supply has this large brick on it thats the size of a small cat, That thing is going to generate a lot of heat too, and you may want to consider also placing that on that desk, off to the side of the 360, because thats another thing that you don't want on the carpet.
Just dont keep things on top of it while its running, and make sure the back always has ventilation, with this set up, I think you'll be just fine. I know it seems like a lot of crap for a console, but treat this thing like you would a computer, and it'll work for a good long time. In theory. At whyme: The lego thing actually isnt a horrible idea, but its not completely necessary, the biggest fans for the 360 are in its back, the ones on the sides actually dont contribute that much to keeping the console cool.
