About Google Translator; I noticed something a little strange too.
As for Spanish classes, if they are using a translator, then they probably never went to Spanish classes. Those who did go to Spanish classes, but forgot how to speak Spanish, probably gave it up, droped out, or have they memory span of a goldfish.
