Question Does DKRDS deserve the beef it gets?

Reviews were not kind to DKRDS. I love the game personally, I thought it was better than the N64 version. But what is your opinion? Were they right it giving it an average of an 6.9 out of ten?

Never played. Racing games are all the same to me...I suck at them.

(edit) I also think beef is the wrong word...

Reviews suck. They complain for stupid reasons that don't even hurt the game.

I think the critics get a little out of hand about DKR DS, its a great game, the only thing I agree with them about is the balloon races , you have to use the touch screen to turn and pop the balloons. it is a crappy messed up control scheme in my opinion. But the rest of the game is excellent.

Clearly, being a Rare forum, there's bias among some members. I chose the second option.

DKR DS > Mario Kart DS
DKR 64 > DKR DS

In my opinion anyway... Basically DKR DS was great and underrated but wasn't as good as the original.

If anything, the reviewers are biased. Let's make a comparision here.

They complain about the lack of voice chat, which made it hard to organize matches in WiFi. They didn't complain about it in Mario Kart DS, where you couldn't even see if your friends were online at all. Hell, Mario Kart DS didn't even give you a cut off button.

Then, they complain about load times... Even though they're exactly the same as those of Mario Kart DS.

I haven't played the game. But Dylan is right. Reviewers are biased morons who hate anything that's not their precious Mario.

I found the reviews to be *reasonably* fair. I mean, perhaps they were also biased to Mario Kart which in essence is a similar game (and they often neglected to admit many of the flaws in it that they noted were in DKRDS as well), but compared to the N64 version it felt like a bit of a step backwards. Overall I just found it disappointing considering I owned the original, but by no means is it a horrible game.

Anyways I voted the second option, I liked it but I think the reviewers were, for the most part, reasonably fair.

I personally like it better than MKDS. Kart/Hovercraft/Plane customization and custom tracks (though the custom tracks are quite limited) add a lot to the game.

So no, it doesn't.

honestly i didn't like Diddey kong racing on the N64. i found the controls to be really annoying and i couldn't stand how drifting was slightly faster than normal except it was easy to spin out when drifting. i did like it how you could choose your character and what vehicle you had but i really hated the controls. i havn't played DKRDS yet but i expect that they would've improved the controls though.

i do think that reviewers were a little bit harsh though
