I need help installing the twilight hack.

I did everything the readme said, but I still can't find the files on the SD card screen on my Wii.

Yeah, I'm confused about installing it, as well.

That helped a lot, thanks, but I now have a new problem. Whenever I try to copy my LoZ data to my SD card, it said that the data already exists. I checked my SD card, there's no LoZ data on it.

Ah so you're trying out homebrew, Its great

The Twilight Hack Save counts as a LoZ save too. so thats why you can't move your save on the SD card.

I know, I fixed it, but now, when the hack is begining, it find boot.dol and such, but then I get a message "Exception 0300 occured!" and the hack seems to stop.
Edit: I dunno if this would help, but I have my SD card formatted as fat32.

Obvious things to check:
-Correct version of Zelda
-Correct version of the Twilight hack.

As long as the installer itself booted, you should be alright (as it seems you did). Boot.dol must be in the root of the SD card for the installer to boot. If it ain't there, go move it.

The Twilight Hack works with either FAT16 or FAT32, so the card shouldn't be a fault. Wiibrew has a more in depth FAQ if needed.

It's awesome how people can hack their wii.
I would never do it, on the chance it might backfire on me.

Alternatively, that is preventing the install. Then again it should only be if you bought a recent Wii. If you did buy it recently (since I have no idea), then you may be unable to install a softmod like the HBC anyway. If that is the case, elf/dol loaders can still get you by just fine.

Angry

Nintendo blocked homebrew with a recent update. What an epic fail on there part. Now I just have this 100% Brawl profile and nothing to do.

Yeah, if anyone has updated to Menu version 4.0, as we speak, there is no way to do the Twilight Hack yet. Menu 4.0 prevents any modified save files from being moved over onto the console.

Plus, if you are using the wrong version of the file (be sure to check the serial number of your disk on the inner circle), it will give you plenty of errors when you try to copy it over, or to load it up.

Another problem (if you haven't made the switch over to 4.0 yet...), make sure to find out whether or not your firmware is 3.4 or higher, or 3.3 or lower. Depending on the version, there are two different save files that you'll need to use...the instructions for the hack tell you what to do based on what version you're using.

And for anyone who isn't seeing the file showing up, you need to be sure that your file is located in the /private/wii/title/RZDx/ (x is determined by which version of Twilight Princess you have...), otherwise the Wii won't recognize the file.

To be honest to everybody, if you really want to run Homebrew applications, and backup games, I'd highly suggest getting a mod chip. I got the Wii-Key 2 solderless mod-chip. It is one of the most EASIEST chips to install that you could ever get...the hardest part of the entire task is basically opening up your console without destroying it...But even THEN, it isn't so hard. Then once you get it on, you need to find the right chip, and then click the new chip down onto it, put the case back together, and ENJOY!
But, if you aren't too tech savvy, however, I wouldn't *dare* to even consider doing this. If you have a friend who could help you, then go for it...but otherwise, don't!

Overall, it is WELL worth the time and money to do this if you can, and it is pretty much more reliable than any Soft-mod you'd find. I tried doing the Twilight Hack first, but then found out someone had upgraded my firmware to 4.0 without me knowing...So then I went out and bought the Mod-chip. No problems yet, the only thing I've noticed is that every now and then, some games don't load up on the first try, or they sometimes ask you to reload the console once you reach the main menu...But once you get to playing the game, they act fine.

Btw - if anyone has any questions about doing this or plans to add a mod chip, feel free to send me a message prior to doing so! I'd love to help out in any way I can! I'm sure there are probably other members on the forum who'd be more knowledgeable in the area, but I'm willing to help in any way I can.

Another thing! If you DO decide to get a Mod-chip, do some research prior to doing so! Look on the bottom of your Wii console for the Serial code. That will tell you which version Motherboard you have, and will help you determine which type of chip to purchase. There are several different versions for each Mod-chip, and getting the wrong one can not only end up not working, but could potentially Brick your system, so be careful!

Yeah If you want to update you better have installed the Homebrew channel FIRST.

So if you haven't updated and want homebrew, install it FIRST, then update, then you won't have much of a problem
