Back in hacking mode- debug menu semi unlocked!
Hey Guys
Havn't been around much lately. How is everyone? Ive literaly ran out of things to do so I'm back in Hacking mode for a week or so. Though everythings pretty much been found I'm having a look through Tooie N64. I'm bascially trying to get some debug information displayed in the game and hopefully a debug menu (which probably wont be that interesting) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCSsz5xXf6c Thanks to this video from you guys I was able to get this http://img12.imageshack.us/i/banjotooieusnap0000.jpg/ Am I on the right tracks anyone? Basically heres how I got this Enter this code in the north american version 800455E8 0010 FFFECD9F 0010 The white Rare text keeps on flashing. You need to pause the game VERY Quickly to get this. It looks like that text strings coding Last edited by ssj; 22nd July 2009 at 04:53 PM. |

I think ive figured this out. This could be the 'Main' thread which is displayed on the video at 0:18 except shown in the game.
If you noticed in the video each menu has a value. For example the 'main' thread has a value out of 20 I think we need to focus on the Sp column alot. Because those codes can be generated into gameshark codes E.g 800455E8 to display 'Main', and the last four digits are somewhere between 0000 and 0020. After testing the only values that affect that text are 0010 and 0011. So the code to display the 'Main' Debug menu ( If only for a split second) is either 800455E8 0010 or 800455E8 0011 |

Ive managed to get the 'Motor' debugger loaded into the game too, but again only for a split second
800455E8 0010 8007AEF0 0001 You need both codes for this to work. This menu flashes only once near the end of the title screen. But heres a piccy http://img195.imageshack.us/i/banjotooieusnap0002.jpg/ Edit: Got the 3rd debug menu - JOY 800455e8 0010 8007AEF0 0001 80079860 0001 Appears below the rare text but only for a split second. Am strugling to get a pic for this one. Edit: Got a piccy http://img200.imageshack.us/i/banjotooieusnap0003.jpg/ So the coding below the rare text is the JOY thread displayed in game (briefly) 3 menu's semi unlocked. 7 more to go Last edited by ssj; 22nd July 2009 at 02:46 PM. |

more results. I Managed to somehow get a mini map viewer displayed in the top left hand corner
800455E8 0011 8007AEF0 0001 80079EF0 0001 Only works for a second on title screen. Pic coming soon http://img33.imageshack.us/i/banjotooieusnap0005.jpg/ it seems that you need to equip the code at a specific moment to get it to work Last edited by ssj; 25th July 2009 at 03:27 PM. |

So what exactly do these codes do? I know Debug menus give the ability to do so much, but I lack a rom or gameshark.

A debug mode is something that the developers used when making the game. It lets you put anything into anything, including characters, maps, music and objects.
The mini map viewer may be one feature of tooies debug mode, but it is very complicated as it doesn't always work. With that map viewer we may be able to come across an actual map select option in tooies actual game. Edit: ive reuploaded the map viewer image since the link doesn't work now http://img29.imageshack.us/i/banjotooieusnap0005.jpg/ I can confirm that the first code you need to start the debug mode is either 800455E8 0010 or 800455E8 0011 because the other codes dont do anything unless you have them equiped. I'm fairly confident that 0011 is the one you need because the map viewer didn't load on 0010 (when it did) And I'm about 70% confident that either 8007AEF0 0001 or 80079EF0 0001 comes next Edit 2: Ok the second code you need is definately 8007AEF0 0001 but the game freezes when the coding appears at the bottom. The next stage is to stop that from crashing. It should flash for a second and display the map viewer. Ive managed to get that coding to flash but still freezes the game after a bit, and doesn't show the map viewer. I think that map viewer was simply an emulation bug. I'm gonna upload a video soon . Edit:I'm gonna try to test this on the n64 since i might get better results. But first i need to convert the codes to pal I have an idea. Would anyone who has tooie ntsc n64 and a gameshark be up for some testing? I have an idea that might work but there is a risk of damage Last edited by ssj; 29th July 2009 at 03:30 PM. |

Thanks Banjo PL
Can i ask a big big favour of someone? Rather than someone testing these codes on an ntsc cart could someone who knows how please convert these three gameshark codes into pal for me? That way I can work on my own console without damaging someone elses 800455E8 0011 8007AEF0 0001 80079EF0 0001 It would be greatly appreciated. Edit : Nearly there guys 810BAB40 0011 Try this code in PAL and take a look. Makes the game very buggy. Text gets jumbled up.Nintendo Logo doesn't appear at beginning.Flashing graphics.Equip this code before you start the game otherwise it wont work. I'll post a vid soon. And note this code is 80455e8 converted. Now I just need to convert the other 2 codes. Which will hopefully show the coding.
