Wii U to be Finished Product at E3 2012

Kotaku is reporting that the Wii U console will be the real deal at next year's E3 in 2012. While Wii U games were indeed playable at this past year's conference, gamers were playing from development kits inside hollowed-out shells and not from actual consoles, which have yet to be finalized.

Kotaku quotes Nintendo president Satoru Iwata as saying, "We would like to show the final format of the Wii U at the E3 show next year".

"As we learned a bitter lesson with the launch of the Nintendo 3DS, we are trying to take every possible measure so that the Wii U will have a successful launch."

The prototype everyone saw at E3 2011 may indeed not be what we get our hands on eventually. Consoles and handhelds often go through minor tweaks before they are ready to be released.

Nintendo may also be learning lessons from the rough launch of the Nintendo 3DS, which was plagued by sluggish sales.
